When your A child suddenly fails

If your child has been getting decent, if not A-1 grades, and suddenly flunks more than once, then something must be seriously wrong with your child. This might be a sign of something very important, and as parents you should try to investigate what made this sudden grade drop to happen.

1. Has there been a death in the family? Separation? You see, children’s emotions are quite fragile some children are not emotionally equipped to handle such trauma.

2. If the first item is improbable, then it is time to widen the parameters of your investigation.  Ask your child’s teacher and his friends in school.   Your child may be the victim of bullying.

3. You might think your child is the typical “good kid,” but as they grow older, they also spend more time  beyond our sight.  They get to interact with people we don’t know about. Not to sound paranoid, but could it be your child keeps bad company?

4. We always think that out child is in safe hands, even with our most diligent efforts, but still there are still times when we do not know where our children are. This might be the worst case scenario, but it is still something that is worthy of consideration especially if the first three above do not seem to apply to the situation. Do you think your child is a victim of sexual abuse?

A sudden, sharp drop in your child’s school marks need immediate action. As parents, it is your responsibility to do something about it, and time is of the essence. Talk to your child. If he or she can’t open up to you, then it is probably best to seek the help of a professional.
